Some Popular
Books on Repertory Grids
- Beail, N. (Editor, 1985).
Repertory grid technique and personal
constructs: Applications in clinical and educational settings.
Cambridge, MA: Brookline Books. {Offers a brief introduction to
the repertory grid technique followed by chapters
that show how to use and interpret different grid techniques.}
- Fransella, F., Bell, R., & Bannister, D. (2003). A manual for repertory
grid technique (2nd Ed.). London: Wiley. {This classic text
has just been revised and provides an excellent summary of grid techniques and studies of
grid techniques. Needs a section on the
coordinate grid.}
- Jankowitz, D. (2003). The easy guide to repertory grids.
London: Wiley. {Offers a readable introduction to
repertory grids.}
-
Kelly, G. A. (1955). The psychology of personal constructs. New York:
Academic {see Chapters 5 and 6 for the birth of the repertory
grid technique}
- Shaw, M.L.G.
(1980). On Becoming a Personal Scientist. London: Academic Press.
{primarily discusses clustering techniques for analyzing
repertory grids} - Slater, P. (1977). The measurement of
intrapersonal space by grid technique: Volumes 1 and 2. London: Wiley. {Describes conducting eigenvalue
decompositions on grids as well as strategies for analyzing multiple grids.
The second volume reports examples of grid analysis and interpretation. These
volumes arguably represent two of the most important contributions to the
analysis of repertory grid data.}
Computer Programs
- Enquire Within: Uses laddering and clustering algorithms to drive the
construct elicitation phase. This program is more interactive and dynamic in
the construct elicitation phase than Idiogrid.
- GridSuite: Uses a clustering
algorithm to drive the construct elicitation phase. As with Enquire Within,
this program is more interactive and dynamic in the construct elicitation
phase than Idiogrid.
- GridStat & GridScal:
These programs are freely available and offer plenty of analyses. They run under DOS
instead of Windows.
- Other Repertory Grid Programs.
